The right way to BE UNIQUE

Avant Garde

Typefaces must speak for themselves, just like images. For over 500 years, we have been accustomed to considering typefaces solely for their semantic content, neglecting their graphic form. We must abandon this mindset and begin to treat typefaces as living elements in their own right

Herb Lubalin (1918 – 1981)

Anima Linotype

Anima Linotype

Visible from the outside due to the subtle transparency of the acetate and made to an exclusive Good’s design, it reproduces - with an engraved inscription - the right way to look at things developed from right to left, like the lead lines produced by the traditional Linotype typographic machine, invented in 1886 and defined by Thomas Edison as The Eighth Wonder of the World.

Inspiration

The design is inspired by the Avant Garde font, a typeface designed in 1968 by graphic and type designer Herbert Frederick Lubalin (1918-1981), considered one of the most charismatic figures in the history of American graphic design, and his young assistant Tom Carnase (1939).

This typeface is linked to the famous international photography magazine of the same name, called “Avant Garde”, because it was designed for its masthead and in particular its logotype. The characteristics of this sans serif alphabet are: linearity, adaptability, clarity and legibility.

Personality

This wide but minimalist pair of glasses lends itself to the simple, straightforward characters of people who can adapt to any situation while conveying a clear and legible self-image.

Description

Biocetate: the frame is in Mazzucchelli M49 bioacetate, 100% recyclable and biodegradable, without chemical agglomerates to avoid allergic reactions and its natural origin is also revealed to the touch with a pleasant “warm and silky effect”.

Frame front: The geometry of the front is constructed following the style of the font it is inspired by, based on geometric figures, including above all the circle. It is very reminiscent of the Futura in terms of the geometric rigour of the shapes, but has a wider shape. This model is designed for very wide faces and therefore reaches a size of 146 mm.

Temples: the sail-style temples owe their name to the shape that resembles a rudder tiller. The earpiece temple tip is pierced with an “O” inspired by Good’s logo.
