Bottone C

You could become an archangel, a madman, or a criminal, and no one would notice. But if you lose a button, everyone notices right away.

Anima ditale

Inspired by the world of tailoring, the steel core decoration is crafted using an exclusive Good's design and reproduces the small dimples of a traditional metal thimble. These dimples create grip points for the needle tip, ensuring it doesn't bend or slip when pushing through thick fabrics.

Inspiration

The Bottone C model is inspired by the button, whose history begins in prehistoric times, specifically in the Bronze Age, and continues to this day. The history of buttons reflects the changes in society and fashion over the centuries: initially, they had a purely ornamental function (16th century), then they also took on the function of opening and closing two pieces of fabric (18th century), and later became an element of status and beauty, playing a significant role in the history of fashion.

Description

Bioacetate: the frame is made of Mazzucchelli M49 bioacetate, 100% recyclable and biodegradable, with no chemical agglomerates to reduce the risk of allergic reactions. Its natural origins are also evident to the touch, with a pleasantly warm and silky feel.

Front: the Bottone C model features a minimalist design that evokes the shape of a button with a double geometry. The extremely thin circular steel frame—available in two different colors, gold and silver—incorporates an acetate eye, round on the outside and rectangular with rounded corners on the inside. The interplay of milling highlights the double geometry and enhances the color choices. The opaline top interacts with the translucent base in an interesting trompe l’oeil effect that lightens the frame’s perceived weight and adds a distinctive luminosity.

Temple: “tie” style, featuring a metal front with a thimble decoration, while the matching acetate tip resembles a tie. The tip features a perforated “o” from the Good’s logo.

Curiosity

At the height of the Russian Campaign, Napoleon’s 600,000-man army dwindled to fewer than 100,000 in just six months, insufficiently equipped to survive the rigors of the freezing Russian winter. Surprisingly, one of the causes of the army’s destruction may have been a button. As temperatures dropped, the tin buttons on soldiers’ uniforms began to crumble, leaving them exposed to the cold. This was caused by “tin plague” a property of tin that changes its crystalline structure when exposed to very low temperatures for a long time, causing the metal to crumble.
