Thimble Core

Thimble Core

Inspired by the world of tailoring, the steel core decoration is crafted using an exclusive Good's design and reproduces the small dimples of a traditional metal thimble. These dimples create grip points for the needle tip, ensuring it doesn't bend or slip when pushing through thick fabrics.

Inspiration

The Taschino C model is inspired by the “boat pocket“, the breast pocket typical of Neapolitan tailoring. It has a slightly curved and concave cut at the top hem, forming a “bow” reminiscent of a boat, making it a distinctive and elegant element that pairs well with unstructured jackets, lightening their silhouette. These pockets are challenging to make, with double-stitched interior and exterior seams, and represent a great demonstration of sartorial skill.

Description

Bioacetate: the frame is made of Mazzucchelli M49 bioacetate, 100% recyclable and biodegradable, with no chemical agglomerates to reduce the risk of allergic reactions. Its natural origins are also evident to the touch, with a pleasantly warm and silky feel.

Front: a minimalist design that recalls the shape of the boat pocket, typical of Neapolitan tailoring. In fact, the extremely thin rectangular steel frame – available in three different colors: black, gold, and silver – houses a rectangular acetate eye with rounded corners, making it softer and less rigid, just like the jackets of Neapolitan tailoring. In terms of color, the opaline top interacts with the translucent base in an interesting trompe l’oeil effect that lightens the frame’s perceived weight and gives it a particularly luminous appearance.

Temple: “tie” style, featuring a metal front with a thimble decoration, while the matching acetate tip resembles a tie. The tip features a perforated “o” from the Good’s logo.

Curiosity

A functional aspect of the breast pocket is to hold the handkerchief, also known as a pochette, originally used as a functional item for personal hygiene and over time became a symbol of refinement and taste. Already in 18th-century France, the pochette was used as an ornament. Once the King had completed his daily toiletry routine, he was approached by a courtier with a tray full of finely crafted handkerchiefs adorned with precious lace and bows at the four corners. Depending on his mood and his attire, the King would select a handkerchief and slip it into his jacket pocket, letting it fall like a cascade.
